Home-Use Essential Feature 1 --- Provides home users with easy-to-use coffee powder
Home electric grinders lack variety, as most use small 38mm or 40mm conical burrs. Small burrs combined with speeds over 300 RPM result in a broad particle size distribution. I’ve never understood why larger burrs aren’t used, and maybe the home electric grinder market is just too small. The burr is the heart of the grinder, and the POTU-C63 uses a large size 63mm conical burr, which I think is an excellent thing to enrich the household electric grinder market.
The POTU-designed 63mm octagonal conical burr retains the compact powder layer constructed by coarse, medium, and fine particles of Traditional-Conical-Burr, while controlling the ratio of coarse powder outside Target-Particle-Size to ultra-fine powder well. It is a mid-level universal burr that takes into account both espresso and pour-over brewing. Compared to flat burrs, conical burrs produce more coarse particles above Target-Particle-Size. POTU 63mm conical burr provides a longer grinding path than small-sized 38mm or 40mm burr, effectively reducing off-target coarse particles. However, the longer grinding path can also increase the amount of ultra-fine powder. POTU’s cutting pattern design and a lower rotation speed (200 RPM) keep the ultra-fine powder within a reasonable range.
For beginners making coffee at home, the ideal coffee powder should have minimal ultra-fine particles for pour-over brewing and as little coarse particles above 600 microns as possible for espresso. For pour-over, POTU-C63 conical burr controls the acidity and off-flavors produced by ultra-fine powder very well, highlighting the sweetness, and does not require too many water pouring skills, allowing novices to easily get a balanced taste of sourness, sweetness, and bitterness. For espresso, the C63 burr creates a compact layer structure with fewer above-target coarse particles, making the liquid extracted from espresso stable and suppressing the hollow taste, making it easy for beginners to achieve strong, balanced flavors, which is very suitable for daily taste.
Special mention goes to POTU C63 burr’s excellent performance with light roast beans. For medium-light SOE beans, can extract a smooth, fruity acidity. For pour-over with light roast beans, if use 3-stage extraction and keep the last pour at 80°C, the approach brings out a bright acidity, noticeable sweetness, and almost no bitterness in the aftertaste.
Home-Use Essential Feature 2 --- Simple for home users to use
Making it simple for home users means no need to overthink things; even when distracted, they won't make mistakes. To me, the simplest 'simple-to-use' design for home users is to make the home-use essential functions they use straightforwardly to operate while removing features that are rarely used or hard to maintain, like screens, plasma blowers, timer quantity, adjustable speed, etc.
Simple for home users to use -- a. Electric grinding
In-home morning coffee brewing, compared with a hand grinder, the motor replaces manpower, and the grinding time is shortened, so no need to stimulate the arms and brain for a long time—probably why many home users prefer electric grinders. The POTU C63 electric grinder has just one button: press to start grinding and stop again—so simple it's almost dull. Grind 20g of beans, it takes 20 seconds for espresso clicks, and pour-over clicks take just 12 seconds. These grinding times are sufficient for home use; there’s nothing more to say.
Simple for home users to use -- b. Compatible with various coffee makers and beans
POTU-C63 electric grinder smoothly switches between Espresso, Pour-Over, and French-Press grind levels. It features an intuitive, near infinite-adjustment grinding dial with numerical markings, making it easy for beginners to find the sweet spot for each kind of bean. The motor’s torque, specially tuned by POTU, can even handle very hard light-roast beans. Although it’s technically capable of grinding green beans, it’s not recommended as it may damage the motor. This grinder is versatile enough for home use to handle any coffee bean.
Simple for home users to use -- c. Reduce your coffee bean waste
I'm not at all interested in single-dose grinders with a zero-retention feature. There's always some leftover coffee powder for someone who's a bit of a neat freak. For traditional electric grinders, switching from Ethiopian to Brazilian beans or changing the grinding degree, requires adding extra beans to grind to push out the old grounds, or else you end up with blended taste coffee. That’s a painful waste when dealing with expensive beans. That’s why I designed the ORCA and GRIZZ hand grinders with tools-free-quick-disassembly. POTU grinder is designed with a tool-free, 10-second quick-release outer burr. You twist off the bean hopper, remove the outer burr, and you can quickly clean out the leftover grounds, saving your beans. Resetting the grinding degree is also super straightforward—tighten the hopper, and the grinding level will reset to zero.
Simple for home users to use -- d. Fits into your home environment
POTU electric grinder operates on a wide voltage range of 100-240V, so you don't have to worry about which transformer to buy when moving from the U.S. to Europe. It can be powered by a car battery or outdoor power source, making it perfect for RVs. Its compact size fits easily on your countertop, and with its all-metal construction and minimalist aesthetic design, it looks great in any home.
Finally, I want to say that the POTU 63mm conical burr electric grinder, produces coffee powder with a friendly particle size distribution and good layer structure, making it highly compatible with various coffee machines and beans. It’s incredibly user-friendly for home users and coffee beginners, making it an excellent fit for households. However, it may not be ideal for coffee geeks looking to modify their gear for advanced capabilities. Well, free a moment, and have fun!
